Well to be fair their chosen profession is nothing more than a pillar of the institutions that keep the poor poor and the rich rich. It’s not really art at their level of fame and influence no matter the “good” they do. I’ll take my downvotes though.
I didn’t say acting wasn’t art as an art form; I said at their level it isn’t art. It’s propaganda. It’s capitalism. It’s whatever the company that makes the multibillion dollar blockbuster says it is.
Look, you and many others aren’t going to see it from my perspective. You get to hide behind the shield of “ART IS ART” when in reality that isn’t the case in many instances. If Pedro Pascal wants to take his huge pay checks from Marvel, a Disney owned company, and side with trans people and free speech etc that’s fine. But I don’t see how that’s a genuine representation of the quality of the man. He could stop doing the big budget, focus group approved movies and stick to indies or be super selective of the projects he takes and cement his perceived quality, but he won’t and you guys won’t judge him for it because at the end of the day he’s well liked and really that’s all that matters to people. People hate being forced to look at things/people they like in this way. It’s natural and causes that uncomfortable cognitive dissonance feeling, but at the end of it you still get to go “oh well I still love him and his art is wonderful and this guy on the Internet is just a sad nutjob and he’s the problem so I can ignore his opinion” and go about your lives.

So now we’re gatekeeping art? Are you for real?
No?
Your issue is with with the institutions not the artists. How is acting not art?
