Mentally I still feel like I’m 18. Not sure that’s ever really going to change though.

politics @lemmy.world•AOC's answer on running for president leaves political world speechless
5·3 days agoBefore and during the primaries is exactly where these issues should be highlighted. Both to find the candidates with as few dead bodies in their closet as possible, but also to force the candidates to publicly address these issues.
That’s a really big part of the issue to me. How many people does people here know, that are still together with their high school girlfriend/boyfriend? I’m not saying it doesn’t happen, but a LOT changes throughout the 20’s.
Breaking into the goat petting area at the zoo.
I like the fact that I can generate a varying voltage in a long copper wire that induces the same varying voltage in another long copper wire somewhere halfway around the world with no cell towers or satellites.
That does make it sound pretty fucking cool tbh.
I’m quite currious (not enough to get into the hobby) what does one do with Ham radio? Is it just talking to other people over the radio or what?

Television@piefed.social•Apple TV series 'Pluribus' begins season 2 shooting this fallEnglish
6·8 days agoThat was a pretty interresting plot, but such an unbearable main character. I suppose they meant her to be, but she’s just too much. Like unrealistically unbearable.
Actor did great though!
Looking forward to season 2 though. Will be interresting where they’ll take it.

News@lemmy.world•Gasoline costs 50% more in the US than it did before the Iran war
36·8 days agoTo be completely fair to the americans complaining about fuel prices though. European prices are by design. Prices increasef in the 70’s during the oil crisis, and afterwards we kept them high through taxation. We did that to give a larger incentive to oil reducing behavior like buying a car that drives longer per liter, or insulating your house better. This was to reduce our dependance in oil so another crisis wouldn’t hit as hard.
USA didn’t do that, because USA has/had plenty oil to support itself, and those regulations would mean less oil sales and thus less money for the giant oil companies. Wouldn’t wanna take money out of the wallets of the poor rich cunts right?
So in short, Europe voted for less oil dependance because we don’t produce a lot of it, USA voted for more, because their rich cunts have always controlled the government.

politics @lemmy.world•The Republican Party may not survive the Trump day of reckoning
5·10 days agoTo his credit, fucking up european fuel prices really seem to have woken a lot of people up to buying an ev.
It infuriates me how so many people seem to think the epstein files are worse than bombing civilians.
Yes, Trump deserves to hang for everything he has to do with the case. Even if we assume he is completely innocent, he has still at bare minimum covered up for countless abusers.
But that doesn’t mean partaking in a genocide and murdering civilians in a war of agression isn’t worse.
For anyone curious, that’s in Aalborg airport in Denmark. And no, no one is timing your kiss.

5·11 days agoI mean, it’s totally worth a shot. But a day or 2 isn’t going to do much. They know everyone will fall back in line after that. It’ll be a bump in their finances, sure, but It’ll be managable. These people are on track to literally enslave you. They’re not going to back off, just because a bunch of people waited 2 days to buy their new phone or groceries.
It’s not like all European towns have perfect public transit. We have plenty of places without a busline too. I agree it’s not to the extent of the USA, but here in Denmark we have a lot of smaller communities that simply don’t have busses, because they’re not directly sandwiched between two bigger cities.
I’m not really convinced China is that far ahead of everyone else in the EV market. Sure, they have cheap cars, but is the quality better? I haven’t tried a lot, but to me it seems the quality and features are pretty much the same as european, japanese or south korean. I just bought a Japanese car, because the BYD that was comparable but cheaper just felt like a toy car. Everything about the interior just felt like cheap plastic. The infotainment screen was a mess, and I had to go into 3 (3!) submenus to turn on the heated seats.
I’m not convinced the chinese cars are better. They’re comparable and cheap, but it’s not like they offer something no one else does.
Baby needs to be thrown out with the bathwater. It was a fun project, but at some point everyone needs to cut their losses, and accept that uncontrolled capitalism is not it.

Games@lemmy.world•What game do you personally have the most hours played in?English
2·13 days agoI’m with you in Runescape. By far my most played game since coming back to osrs in 2018.
I keep taking breaks, but always come back. Many periods I’ve played more than my full time job, and I still haven’t done nearly everything.

I’ve been told for years I’m overreacting about international politics, Fascism spreading in USA, Climate change, and lately, Fascism spreading in Europe.
I am so fucking sick of being right all the time, but I just can’t stop. Everything keeps getting worse. It’s like we’ve all adopted Russia’s political roadmap: “Everything fucking sucked, and then it got worse”.
