These types of shows take a bit for the writers and actors to get on the same wavelength. The Office wasn’t an immediate hit.
Yep. Parks and Recreation was an amazing show, but I almost gave up on it during season one. So glad I powered through.
Season 1 of the Office was trying very hard to replicate the British show. mm
Yeah, if I go back and watch the first couple of episodes, Michael is almost unrecognizable.
For sure, he was American David Brent. The storylines are lifted directly from the BBC version.
The American office really started at Season 2. In my opinion they didn’t even really heat up until the Christmas episode
The show was canceled at some point before hitting it big. On Conan O’Brien Needs a friend, Rashida Jones said the president of NBC had canceled it before boarding a plane, thought about it over the course of the flight, and decided to uncancel it after the plane landed.
The Office was canceled too, and apparently video on-demand numbers on iPod brought it back.
I’ve only seen the first episode so far. The first 15mins were slow to put it mildly, but it did pick up after that, and I’ll give it at least another episode.
Actually, it reminded me a lot of the first ep of WKRP in Cincinnati, and that went on to be pretty enjoyable.
Wow, that’s a throwback. I think you have to be 50 to know that one.
