Then this conversation isn’t about you. Many places have exceptions to minimum wage for tipped employees. That, plus tip-out policies means that serving a customer that doesn’t tip can actually cost the server money.

We’re talking about the problem of tipping culture and complaints about being expected to tip too much. If you live in a country that pays waitstaff well, then this conversation isn’t about you. You can self select based on context clues.

I agree with you, and I don’t have a job that relies on tips. But I live in a place where tips are the source of income for servers, so if I use their services, I tip. I also vote for politicians who want to raise wages for servers and eliminate the exceptions to the minimum wages.

Tipping culture sucks. You and I agree on that. Servers should be paid decent wages, and tipping should be optional.

That ain’t the system we got, though. And you don’t change the system by abusing the victims of the system.

Did someone say this, or did you imagine it? 20% is standard for good service, but anything less than 15% is message that there was something wrong with the service. If you cannot afford to pay for good service, you should not seek good service.

No, it’s better to have awareness of both. What needs to be done, how long it takes, and what dependencies exist. I feel like taking a nap, but I have work and house chores. So I’ll take care of some small things that aren’t too taxing while I drink coffee and regain some energy.

If I press the brake, it should brake. ABS systems work well, but otherwise there should not be any logic built into not braking when I want to brake. Add all the automation into braking for me if there is an imminent collision detected. Extra braking is good. Less braking than I have asked for is bad.

Oh I get it completely, and I was banging my head against the wall looking for something that worked. Ultimately, some clean cable management and a few of those rubber cord grips were so much more functional than anything else I tried.

Also remember that you’ll need to automate those branching switches, and each one can add a bit of lag if they are digital.

As someone who briefly lived a similar dream, I wish someone had pointed out to me that you’re still going to have to get your old bones up to get the wired controllers for those older consoles. I’d just keep the old school composite switch accessible so you can plug in whatever you want to play while you’re grabbing the controllers and plugging in the cartridge. Then you just need an HDMI switcher, which could also be your surroud sound system (if you’re spending money anyway…)

I mean, maybe it’s technically “darker” the literal sense, but any unfinished concrete is going to scatter light differently than glossy blue paint. And I don’t have anything against cleaning and maintaining the pool. It’s normal maintenance that has to happen every so often.

A reflecting pool needs to be dark on the bottom. If it’s bright blue, too much light bounces off the bottom and overwhelms the reflection.
