Elon is not the founder of Tesla. He sued the actual founders to bury that fact.
much like many of his other “projects”, he’s not the founder. He bought it with his inheritance, then trashed the product.
Sounds like a constituion/lawmaker problem to me if he won/settled (i.e. paid to win).
No dispute on my end but the fact remains he’s a unfitting example for the meme as he was the fourth CEO in the company’s history and wasn’t in the picture when it was founded.
https://www.cnbc.com/2021/02/06/tesla-founders-martin-eberhard-marc-tarpenning-on-elon-musk.html
doesn’t change the fact that he’s not the founder.
Elon didn’t found shit
and he isn’t visionary. that’s 2 out of 3…
I’ll allow asshole but it’s still a bit too flattering for him.
Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning 4 lyyyyyfe
Okay funny, but yeah Tesla on here kinda fucks it up because Elon is not a founder of Tesla, and he’s not visionary unless you count finding new ways to make it worthless. Elon is not visionary in any of his businesses, he just has money and pays people under him to try to make him look good. Emphasis on try
He is an asshole though, I’ll give you that
Oh, but Elon is a founder, he paid enough to retcon himself as such, so he is.
Can’t argue him being a ‘visionary’ though, unless you count ambitions that are vague enough so they are not actually actionable and obvious enough that pretty much any random person would be predicting the same thing.
Paying to say you are something doesn’t mean people need to accept it. He’s not a founder of Tesla under conventional understanding and he never will be. It’s as simple as that
All we’ve got to do is forget how it went down and ask Grok to tell us instead…
Instructions unclear, grok is now shouting about Hitler.
Instructions clear, but grok is still shouting about Hitler.
Eh, calling Linus ‘quiet’ kind of cancels it out.
Until 2015 or so he did look good. Whenever the divers debacle was.
'member r/enoughmuskspam ? Reddit was blowing him so hard there was a sub asking to please tone it down a little.
That sub was literally spamming the most tho
Musk bought it not founded it. There needs to be a whole nother column
Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning are the founders.
Instead of having them as the face of American EV innovation, we have some guy who’s talent is being born with money and then getting lucky in a business venture.
There’s hundreds or thousands of these companies which were founded by innovative and creative people that were bought out and absorbed into some giant corporation so that it doesn’t ever have to compete with anybody.
I don’t think Linus Thorvalds is either very stylish or really an asshole. He might be a bit short fused, but not an asshole.
Eh, he’d probably agree that he is a bit of an asshole.
He’s definitely a bit of an asshole. I appreciate his propensity to talk shit to people, I enjoy that myself, but he equates intelligence with technical skill and tells people they just need a thicker skin if they don’t like his abuse.
I think he’s an asshole¹ but he’s not nearly on the same level as Elmo or any other billionaire. Between actually working and contributing, not being as hardcore exploitative capitalist, and not having nearly the same level of hoarded wealth², there’s just far less potential for assholery.
1: Mind, I still value his work, but the way he sometimes treats people reaches into asshole territory for me.
2: A superficial search suggests a net worth of $50 million. In perspective, that’s $0.05 billion, compared to the late Jobs’ $10.8 billion (0.5%) or Musk’s ~$400 billion (0.01%)Eh - I mean, I’m not an asshole all the time, but I can be occasionally. I’m also not very stylish.
Wait…am I Linus Thorvalds? Nope.
Too late. You outed yourself, Linus
A bit asshole I see.
He might be a bit short fused, but not an asshole.
He’s short fused with volunteers who are donating time to his project, which makes him an asshole.
The kernel group is not your next corner charity and it’s members are highly qualified devs - all of them knowing where they are and the majority paid very well for their work by their employers. Also, it’s not that Thorvalds ever arbitrarily picked on someone or kept on picking on anyone because of personal antipathy as assholes use to do. Any of these events was caused by a specific fuckup by the very person that got addresses and they all did the same thing (fuck up, refuse to fix,. let someone else take the resulting damage) they were explicitely warned not to do. I do have quite a lot of understanding for individual fuckups - they just happen under the right combination of shitty circumstances but I’d be the last one to complain if I’d get F-bombed if I’d be the one to blame. Interestingly none of the addressants complained either. It’s always been third parties/media to scandalize these for their own reasons.
Replace “Visionary” with “Infamous” and musk photo with that one goth photo that he was trying to hide.
You can hear his trustfund sing
Is there any evidence that he’s ever done anything to try to hide it? I’ve only ever seen that claim as an engagement-bait caption on the photo itself, to coax people into sharing it.
There’s never any details of exactly what steps he’s taken to erase it from the internet, and in fact when I searched it just now one of the top results shows that he literally retweeted the photo himself. I mean, fuck Musk and all, but also fuck clickbait.
Well von holzhausen is American born, raised and educated. https://fr.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franz_von_Holzhausen Also Elmo didn’t found shit.
I came here to point out that Musk didn’t found Tesla, but I see that this is basically the entire topic of the comnents section 😂
You all don’t know what you’re talking about. Elon absolutely is a visionary. Who else could come up with the new Tesla Roadster with rocket thruster package (source)? Now, actually brining that vision to market, yeah Elon might not be your guy. Now that I think about it, his visions are more like delusions. Maybe let’s call him a delusionary.
Also gonna put this here if you would like to read more of his delusions. https://elonmusk.today/
if you would like to read more of his delusions
Oh my God is Linux pronounced Line-ux?
On the chance this isn’t a joke, no it isn’t, Linus has said so himself
Apparently, Linus’ name is pronounced like how people normally pronounce Linux, according to his Wikipedia page.
omfg seriously?
Incredible
That’s how I used to say it decades ago when it was one of those “I have only ever read it” words.
It’s probably because I knew the name Linus from Peanuts / Charlie Brown, and in that they pronounce it “Lie-nuss.” So back then I said “Lie-nux.” When I first heard it as “Linn-nix” it sounded not just wrong but less cool.
But between having watched videos of Torvalds speak, and knowing a handful of Finland’s neighbors (Swedes) the correct pronunciation of “Linn-nix” is the only way I even think of it in my head now.
For me, the I is longer and the u more european as well. Like the u in pugs. More like “Leen-ux”
Thats at least how we say it in Germany. But in english i usally speak it with a short ‘I’
He is a bit of an asshole but yeah.

Actually, Elmo didn’t found Tesla.
steve jobs sued and stole his way to apple.
Didn’t he in fact sue the actual founders to be allowed to be called a founder?
I thought he paid extra to be able to tell that lie.
I believe the lawsuit was settled. I don’t really remember the details, but sounds super-Musky that that would be part of the terms of the settlement.
I replace your reality with my own, using the legal system.
I reject your reality and substitute my own!
*money through the legal system
Paying a Lawyer to make the others agree is kind of the same thing, right?
It’s exactly the same thing, except for being more scummy and entitled.
Par for the course with that guy
Given his history, if he had to sue someone to be able to use a title, it’s probably not a legitimate title.
I love how this could be a quote from a Crusader Kings community.
Only needs a little more Byzantium bashing and incest and it’s archetypical 😁
I asked grok and it said he did. It also said earth was cylindrical.
Are you sure you spoke to grok? Did it mention white genocide or mechahitler?
That nickname is an insult to compassionate and intelligent muppets.
i prefer Felon Stank
phoney stark, dorkmaga, space karen.
That’s an insult to felons and the concept of odors.
For real tho.
I was never exposed to the show (etc.) actually & still find it terribly insulting.
My university textbooks said he did. I was dumfounded when I saw that.
Hopefully they didn’t charge you absurd prices for those shitty books, but i already know they did
I hope your tuition is free then. Sounds like you could get a better education from chatgpt.
Free at the point of service.
But that just means I’m paying indirectly via taxation. It’s still being paid for somehow.
Taxpayers are paying for lies to be spread at university level, to stroke the ego of a known Nazi and potential paedophile. Yippee…
also how could steve jobs be visionary if he needed glasses
he couldnt see that his pnet(pancreatic) cancer was a rare type, and it was slow growing compared to usual one( usually metastic by the time of diagnosis and pretty lethal). he went on all fruit diet to treat until it was too late.
Checkmate presbytarians
His only vision was profit.
Needed glasses to count the profits in cents.
Elon musk didn’t found tesla. He’s also an idiot nepo baby, not a visionary.
Why is everyone so hung up on a side character
Elon to my knowledge hasn’t been the founder of a single project he’s been part of. He’s bought everything.
His initial lottery ticket of a business Zip2 I think he was fairly a founder.
I know next to nothing about it because no one ever heard of it before Compaq had a huge case of dot-com FOMO and paid $300 million for it, where it promptly went nowhere like it already was.
Ohh, so like he’s the Tommy Tallarico of tech
Did… did Joey Kuras found Tesla too?
everyone’s a joey if you’re tommy enough
Wait, didn’t he contribute like 100 lines of code to PayPal?
Yep, he’s your typical parasitic orbiting-usurper, buzzing around people of talent until the opportunity presents itself for him to steal all their work while they’re busy making the future happen.
Steve Jobs was exactly the same. Wozniak made the Apple 1 a reality and before that, he used Wozniak’s discarded Pong PCBs to get a job at Atari. At Atari he was just a talentless socially domineering psychopath doing shakedown on the company’s nerd for his lunch money.
When assigned a task to create a cost-optimized version of the game Breakout, were he was offered 100$ for each TTL chip he could optimize out of the design. So he went to his “friend” Wozniak, who managed to remove 50 chips from the design. Steve Jobs made 5000$ (in 1976 money) and he “let” Wozniak have 375$ of this. All jobs did is the menial work of etching the PCBs sketched by Wozniak and solder some of them.
Steve Jobs and Elon Musk are truely despicable pieces of shit and I say as a society, and for the good of everyone, we should use the dystopian surveillance capitalism to find all people like them and box them right out so we don’t have to suffer such parasitic psychopaths.
Unlike Elon, I feel like Steve Jobs legitimately had skills. Of course, it’s completely despicable of him to scoop more than 10x the profit compared to Woz in that example. I guess what I’m trying to say is that Jobs was a talented asshole, but Elon is just a no-talent asshole.
It’s completely despicable for any person in a company to be making 10x compared to the janitor.
I think if you watch this 2009 video, Elon has visionary plans, but fame and money made his ego push the ideals out of his head. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktkV0N0Oask
The thing is, literally anyone working in the industry had visionary ideas at that time. The best of which were completely destroyed by people like Musk, Gates, and others that forced a profit model on an internet with unlimited potential.
The most frustrating thing about the net is how much it has become owned by private companies. Our entire model of digital sales is built on a fake idea of scarcity on a technology that entirely removes the scarcity of resources that capitalism requires.
People like him succeeded not because they had visionary or ground breaking ideas. They succeeded because they offered monetization models that could capture digital infrastructure and restrict its potential in order for their investor’s to profit.
Edit: if this rant interests you you’d enjoy this documentary.
I think it safe to assume Steve Jobs simply stole absolutely everything else he got credit for. As a powerful person in the organization, other people simply came up to him with their ideas hoping he would bestow on them rewards and he just stole their shit and then made them silent about it. This is how it works in nearly all corporation, whoever has power just legally steals everyone’s work and crushes anyone that complains about it. I filed a patent where I work and I didn’t even get a full week’s pay for it. Not even a paid vacation either, just a simple bonus, my request for unpaid time off was also denied.
Work for yourself or people who respect you more. You filed a patent, you are able to understand how the system works.
Who founded SpaceX, then?
NASA obviously, all the technology, funding, lab structure, education pipeline and of course all the ideas are from NASA.
Spacex only exists so that NASA’s activities can be extracted rent from by outsides.
Thomas John Mueller
Isn’t he the founder of SpaceX?
I think you’re right about everything else though.
Same with Jobs on the “visionary” part – the only thing that guy ever visualized was bigger stacks of money.
In fairness to Jobs, he may have been an arsehole, but he was also an incredible salesman who knew what his customers wanted.
I’m old enough to remember how genuinely captivating his product presentations could be. The shit that Apple pre-records these days is worthless by comparison.
Sure, he was a good salesman, but any perception that he was the idea man was a deliberately cultivated lie. Woz had all the actually good ideas early on, then later it was other engineers.
I always thought the “ideas” he got credit for were in domains like design and customer experience, not necessarily technical engineering.
That’s at least among people that know some minimal information about him. I imagine that the huge numbers of normie folks who don’t pay attention to phones unless they’re buying one either don’t know who he is or would just fall back to assuming the superficial public visionary genius image is accurate.
But that’s how our culture and media are designed to condition regular folks to accept our leaders as our betters. I mean who cares if some dark triad personality motherfucker is a monster to their own family just as much as their employees as long as the make money and create success*!
- success = money
It isn’t enough to have good ideas if you can’t persuade someone to buy them.
A) I don’t agree, and B) that’s not really relevant or incompatible with what I said.
That only makes sense if you assume the only purpose of ideas is to turn them into profit.
Many of my great ideas COST me money, but I still end up better off afterwards.
I mean, if your aim as a business is to make money from your ideas, then yeah…
I think Jobs had his issues, but I do have to consider it fair for folks to claim him to be a visionary.
There was a presentation back in '97 where someone a bilt salty about Apple abandoning OpenDoc for Java and Jobs had a pretty solid response with insight.
Not so sure about post-iPod Jobs, but once upon a time he certainly seemed a respectable business leader with good product focus.
More delusional than visionary.
One out of three ain’t bad.

Gives musk too much credit
VisionaryAssholeFounderThe AHole down a KHole…
And Jobs
Woz was also a founder.
But not an asshole founder
But not an asshole founder.
Way too much. FAR from founder, fucking Nepo baby that acts like we’re all shitty because we weren’t born with a silver butt plug.
Pretty sure it was a blood-diamond butt plug.
Emerald butt plug in Musk’s case
Oh crap, you’re right!
Many are still stuck in the snake oil he manufactures as his main source of income. China socials particularly because of the information gap. Keep making his image in the mind of the people harder to believe, just ask thunderfoot, it’s working
