Unpopular opinion: while I was hyped for more Stargate, after reading that, I’m glad it got canceled.
I have no desire to go to parallel realities, we saw enough in the shows, and with the massive wave of movies and TV shows all thinking they’re so clever and original for doing alternate timelines in the last decade, I’m pretty burnt out on it.
Basically, SG-1 was what pulled me in and if it’s not more of that, I’m not super interested. Erasing all of it and saying it more or less doesn’t matter anymore just means to me the show doesn’t matter anymore.
MCU pretty much ruined AU sci-fics. everyone is so done with those types of films.
shouldve just started with a new GALAXY, like all the series has been. instead of an AU. SGU failed because there was next to nothing to do in season 1, only halfway in season 2 when it kicked off, learn the lesson from failures of sgu. sci fi drama=boring. of course you cant revive the cliffhanger of sgu, since the actors got too old, or is doing something else.
if they started with the AU sg1 series, they would have to use the quantum mirror as a central piece of the series.
I love Stargate, but I don’t think an alt-Earth Stargate flies as a series.
I would love to see different SG teams on a rotating basis. But even that idea has issues. I just hope Amazon MGM doesn’t fuck up the series, like they seem to be doing with the Bond 007 franchise.

I’m thinking more of a continuation.
Its a shame they’re consistently failing to revitalize the franchise but I get it. TV in general was a lot cheaper to make when they were coming out, hence the incredibly long seasons.
Cheaper to make means you need less of a pre-existing fanbase to justify taking the risk.
I hope they have the balls to just go for it some time. They’ve wasted cash on way worse premises.
So something to cosndier: why don’t they make it cheaper?
A lot of the TV people fell in love with, and that companies are trying to remake now, were low cost productions.
They didn’t go for big name stars, they didn’t go for big budgets. They focused more so on writing that helped create a good product.
That seems to be out the door now.
My assertion would be that baseline expectations for Sci-Fi are too high now.
Surprisingly they would have used a TARDIS.
Well, they did just about everything else by the end, so why the hell not?
