Well that’s incredibly disappointing. People today have forgotten what it means to protest.

That’s unfortunately all I expect these be in most localities.

They all seem to just be a “show up here for two hours and stand on the sidewalk”. The only one that has the potential to do something akin to a legitimate protest will be the one at the actual parade itself in DC.

Still, wish I could even get to one myself just to try and pass out some zines. They might not be anything more than screaming into the void, but they are also great chances to spread some information and find people.

Pissed that I have no transportation to get to one of the protests. Solidarity in spirit from a po’boy stuck out in the sticks.

Because this is a legal action of denying entry into their country, not a kidnapping in international waters with an illegal blockade.

Except it isn’t illegal to enslave people. It is 100% legal if used as punishment for a crime as decided by the state. It is literally encoded into the 13th Amendment

Those “successes” are simply concessions from the state to lull the population back into complacency.

Violence is a tool. It is neither inherently good nor bad. It is how that violence is used and perpetrated and the context around why it was employed is where the heart of the matter lies.

Someone who is violent against Nazis or those of equivalent ideology in self defense? Absolutely and unequivocally justifiable.

Someone employing state violence to detain civilians because they were born on the wrong side of an imaginary line? Absolutely unjustifiable and deserves to be stopped, even if it means employing violence in self/community defense.

Pretty much what all anarchist theory has been proposing, at least when it comes to revolutionary action.

This is about what I expected of a study like this.

You mean being able to have the confidence that you can ride a bike without being subjected potential bodily harm at the hands of an apathetic drivers means more people will choose to ride their bike?

The neoliberal forced dichotomy of “you have to choose to maintain the capitalist status quo that is actively getting worse with every day, otherwise you get the Big, Bad Boogeyman who is gonna do the same thing but at an accelerated pace” is so fucking infuriating.

Sadly, people do “want” this. They have been conditioned to want it their entire life, from a young age, through the media they consumed telling them it is what they want and then internalizing those notions without ever realizing it. Now as adults they hold onto those beliefs and are incapable of being introspective about the roots of their own desires to see that they are being manipulated.

The human mind is no different from the mind of an animal, and can be manipulated in the many of same ways. We live in a society that is a direct product of these manipulations.

Yes. They profit off of the service being provided, which is corralling the elderly in a place where others don’t have to be bothered by their existence, essentially “getting rid of them” on the pretense of providing care.

We exist under capitalism. Everything is presumed to be generating a profit. That’s a requirement under the current system. It is what they are profiting from that is in question.

The law has been broken for a very long time. It’s been well past the time for a restructuring.
