Fairly regularly I have people think they recognize me on the street for someone else. I also know my face was scanned when I re-entered the US before. I hope the facial data in their system of me just looking like an average dude has gotten someone out of trouble. Even if it’s not with my face, I hope that’s happening.

Agreed, and I think Gordon Ramsay is an excellent choice for this meme, because he engages in the exact kind of behavior that people are celebrating with this meme: flinging verbal abuse at people who are ‘doing it wrong’ and overall out-group bullying.

Wanting to scream at people for using or complaining about Windows is peak “touch grass.”

If someone hasn’t asked “what can I use instead of Windows?” then “use Linux” is unsolicited advice. If you absolutely can’t stop yourself from suggesting Linux every time someone wants to complain about using Windows—something they might not even have a choice in, if their job requires it—at least suggest something useful for their Windows problem. Some jackass rolling by when you have a flat tire and saying “you should have taken the bus” isn’t offering helpful information, they’re being an asshole.

Yeah, this kind of stuff makes me not want to admit to using Linux in public. Let’s not mistake hating Windows for a personality.

Every day I want to live more like this:

I’ve taken public transit a lot, haven’t owned a car for around 20 years. I can count on one hand the amount of times I’ve felt threatened, and none of them resulted in me or anyone else getting hurt. I will admit part of that is probably that I’m a man, but as a trans man it puts me in a weird space where that doesn’t always protect me.

Sometimes people yell and act aggressive, and it puts me on edge. But far more often I have seen strangers band together to help people who are lost or disabled and need assistance. But nobody really makes news stories about that, so if you’re not taking public transit regularly, all you hear about is the crazy shit that happens.

Dead Like Me had a bit about this. Everyone’s last words are documented when they die, and almost all of them are something like “ow,” “what?” or “oh, crap!”

What relevance does that have? Plenty of studies in the past have already demonstrated dietary plant protein is just as good for you as animal protein.

I actually did this with warbler identification sheets, I feel so called out 😭 At least they’re not hitting Mach 2 I guess, that probably makes them easier to identify.

On Mint I set up an automatic update schedule and have been double checking it when I think to. All GUI, no terminal commands. So far it’s been seamless. (Knock on wood)
