Getting rid of Arrested Development, including their own exclusive seasons, smh my head
What?! Can’t even trust online streamers to host their own content!
While I don’t love it, Season Four and Five happily sitting on my server.
Its not theirs, its Disney’s.
In contrast, my DVD library is…checks notes…stable and growing mildly next year.
Having both an online and physical backup is best though.
I’ve lost a bunch of stuff in two bad moves, lost boxes and just plain ole physical damage. I also know others who’ve lost due to water damage. Pests, mold, and fire are also considerations. (Albeit the person who lost stuff due to pests didn’t lose dvds, they did lose a lot of other things though.)
Neither is 100%. Both is better.
Absolutely!
My off-site backups of my DVDs really aren’t what they should be.
I live somewhere where the laws are poor about having a right to make a personal backup, which sucks.

Quite literally in the case of classic stuff
Nowadays I’d be surprised if stuff is ever really lost, but it can definitely be locked behind arbitrary cages with no recourse.

I was thinking of BBC erasing old doctor who
There’s a couple old shows from my favorite actors/actresses that you literally cannot stream or buy anywhere anymore. If I don’t hold onto it, who will?
That’s…pretty much what I said though. I’m just making the claim it surely exists somewhere.
I know, I was agreeing with you.
Ah, oops
So they’re getting rid of some of their own IPS? Why on Earth would they do that? Specially Flagship ones in the case of the Last Kingdom.
Could be tax write-offs. (That’s what happened to Final Space, a personal favourite.)
They aren’t Netflix IPs. The Last Kingdom for instance is owned by Universal and originally aired on the BBC.
The first Netflix IP was The Ranch, followed by Stranger Things.
As long as people keep giving them more and more money they can do what they want. There’s an easy solution.
The Last Kingdom, Bill Burr and Gilmore Girls. That’s all that a recognized from this massive list of what looks like shovel media.
Kind of nice that I don’t need a Netflix subscription anymore to eventually be able to watch Netflix content.
Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts was really good.
I think Gilmore girls is already on Disney+, at least in some regions? I assume their contact just ran out.
