As a migrant in Portugal I agree with your concerns, but on the other hand I am happy that in my municipality (and the surrounding ones) Chega did quite badly and basically only a few idiots voted for them. Small wins and all that 🤷
Not really, local elections tend to have different results than the legislative elections, in Portugal.
For example, while PCP (communist party) has very small representation in our national parliament (2/170) it’s still the third largest party in number of mayor’s, way ahead of the far right.
The same applies to CDS (conservatives), that left the parliament a couple years ago (and came back last year) and were still able to elect 6 mayor’s.

If the whole left had united in Lisbon it might have been a different story, still very close though
The fact that their proportional share was 23% in the legislative election and now has 12% is not indicative that support for them diminished?
