I know, it’s not the books. Not even close, but someone finally made a series. It was painful at times, but it grew on me. And now… it’s done. Worse still, I’ve learned it was cancelled.
sighs
I feel so sad. I wanted to see where it went. But alas, another show cancelled.
Well… I’ve been wanting to re-read the 15 books. Maybe now is the time.
What about you all? Did you feel the love-hate as well? Are you sad? Indifferent?
I haven’t watched the third season. I watched the previous two, so I was considering it (this show was never a priority for me), but I am very thankful that you made this post because now that I know it has been cancelled I won’t waste my time on it.
J have never really understood this sentiment. Everything gets canceled eventually.
This isn’t even remotely close to being true. There are plenty of series that complete their planned runs and have the time to tell an entire story.
Yikes. If I didn’t watch a show because it was canceled, I wouldn’t be watching much of anything these days… ugh.
I was going to watch Resident Alien season 4 next and found out today that it was canceled also. Still going to watch it though. Alan Tudyk is a gem.
Just a personality thing I guess. I like to see things through to the end. And… for all its warts… season 3 loosed a number of wonderful gems. Even if it all ended here.
That’s my issue - I don’t get to see things through to the end because they literally do not have an ending.
I totally get that. But when I say ‘end,’ I’m not talking about the story but the series.
I invested time into the show and I know that the decision to cancel it wasn’t the fault of the actors or storytellers. I mean, it had the best ratings yet for s3.
One reason I’m glad I watched it was because they touched on lore elements that were so mysterious in the books. I always wondered what those things might be like and season 3 was able to show some of that with the time skipping sequences. Now I also have a representation of what an Eelfinn might look and act like. Would have been nice if the sequence were actually a whole episode though.
Anyway, no worries. I totally get it. 💜
You’re obviously a big fan of the books so I guess that makes a difference as well (I have only read the first one). To me, this was just another generic 6/10 fantasy show with nothing particularly special or exciting about it so without a complete story and the promise of a potential big payoff the third season has nothing to offer. I will, of course, miss Rosamund Pike!
Definitely love the books and Rosamund Pike. 💜
If I’m being honest, had I not read the book series, I probably would have stopped watching the TV show after a few episodes. It’s the most expensive cheesy quality tv show made. It’s as if day time soap operas and B cinema had a baby. 🤣
As for the books, Jordan definitely borrows Tolkien themes early on. Things diverge pretty quickly as characters develop though. Jordan was an incredible world and character builder. So incredible that people wondered if he could ever finish the series. Haha. 😬
