It’s ambiguous either this resolves to
6 / (2(1+2))or(6/2) * (1+2), and therefore both answers must be accepted.By convention, the division sign is not to be used in equations. It is not a standard operation.
It is may be used for representing the operation of division as a symbol, but never as an operator itself.
Anyone using the division sign is using it entirely for trolling purposes.

Technology@lemmy.world•AI coders are carrying half-open laptopsEnglish
6·2 days agoIn the before times we had to VPN into machines and run large data processing jobs that took hours. It was pretty normal for everyone to leave their laptop half-open on their desks during lunch.
No, it was not a good idea. Yes, we fucked with each other and changed people’s backgrounds or chat usernames or email signatures.
Anyways, if you’re on Mac you can run
caffeinate -i claudeand your computer won’t go to sleep until you close your Claude Code instance. You can also attach it to a PID. Then you can close your computer’s lid and it’ll still run.

It’s not in the modern standard for notation. I never once saw it used in university. I even had prof who typed their homework on a typewriter and he didn’t use it (he actually typeset everything pretty nicely).
