May I ask why do you consider removing Proton, Brave and Signal?

I grew up hearing that what ever game I enjoyed, “was not a real video game.” And this was IRL, from people I knew and thought as my friends, at the time. If I tried to continue, it turned verbally abusive and my fave games got properly shitted on. So I learned to stay quiet and play only offline games, just play my lil games alone. These days I got real friends who’d like to play with me, but I’m too shy to go online… Like I want to, but just too afraid. It’s really fucking dumb.

We tell our’s that there are bad, bad owls who would snatch him the second he’s off the porch. And he’s a scaredy cat so it has worked so far. :3

It’s so fun to redownload the app twice just before meeting (on phone as I need the camera) and then still end up using it in the browser without logging in!

Just a polite reminder that if you only need to print a few papers, it’s probably cheaper/easier/free to use the printer at local library! Mine does it for like 15 cents a paper, or for free if you have your own paper! Much less hassle than buying a good printer, sorting the ink situation and then fighting with that machine…
I think I break more. I don’t use makeup and wear very boring clothes and we have strong religious cults around here, so I’m always expected to be one of those cultists - until I open my mouth and start swearing.

If the cat only had opposable thumbs and some proper tools… I’d help them find a scrap metal buyer for sure.

People who do crating don’t think they’re confining anything or doing anything bad tho

Religions and doctors “vowing to protect life.” Especially religious doctors “vowing to protect life” even when the life means just pain and suffering that can’t be properly eased with pain meds either, because you know, the dying person might get addicted to the meds. That’s obviously worse.
In my country, when an elder person is too sick and “ready to be euthanized”, they just stop giving them water and let them dry to death. It can take weeks. They do give some pain medication, but there is no way of knowing what amount is enough. You’d imagine that dying that way is pretty damn painful yet they don’t have a way of communicating that. But if they OD’ed, it would be murder so better let them suffer!
But also, euthanizing animals is becoming more taboo too. Many pets live in pain, relying in “pet mobility carts” and medications. Antidepressants for cats, epilepsy meds for dogs… Vets prolong the suffering for money, for people who can’t accept facts and do the kind and right thing. Animals have no way of communicating about side-effects from medications. Endless rehoming is thought to be better than letting go.
I don’t think it just about tech and cyber, “medical/military grade” is very close on how it’s used and how little people understand what they actually mean… A person working close to a military would avoid many “military grade” products and so on.

Looks delish!
I’m just about to heat up the grill and then prepare some food, and in the evening I’ll make a cake. Nice sunny and warm day.

I’d say the Scary Movie 3’s “everyone around you is dying” is better than what my parents did once our cat was old and put down. They lied that the neighbor had droven over him and he had suffered so they had taken the cat to the vet to be put down. I got to pet the dead cat before we all buried him in our garden. I held hatred towards the neighbor until I grew old enough to see through the lie…
So I’d say that the petting, goodbyes and burial was good. But the lie was unnecessary. You can be pretty damn honest with kids, they like it because they’re always lied to… I loved adults who were honest with me and I see kids like me when I’m honest to them.

Why wouldn’t horse meat be allowed to serve in restaurants? It’s perfectly normal here, very tasty and good quality meat.
Raw chicken, no, salmonella risk. All meat would need to be tested, every single piece, so it wouldn’t be very sustainable.
Here people can get social services to buy them a cheap smartphone because it’s “necessary”. (Well, only necessary because public transportation is allowed to do BS like this and so on…) So everyone can obtain one, if they wish. But elders and disabled people might not know how to use one safely, and the internet still costs money…
Wow, ouch, ew. Sorry to hear that, but probably good riddance.
I absolutely agree with you on that! I used them, years ago… It’s just a game. People are no longer real human beings with feelings and all, it’s just points in the app. “Ghost that one, there will always be someone better.”
I think it will be difficult for everyone, me included. But it’s a decision still. Majority will comply without batting an eye. Only a few can truly unplug AND keep it unplugged, not just try it. I’m not sure I can manage it either. For example, some cities in my country have 100% mobile app based public transport, meaning that there is no way of buying or showing a ticket unless it’s the app. Not even website, the real app. (And if the app don’t work for some reason, boohoo, pay a fine for 80-100€.) The world is build on these phones and apps.
Even more weirdly, since I somewhat practice unplugging already, many people have straight on nasty reactions when I say that sorry, can’t scan that QR code or that I can’t check their Insta-whatever post on social media. So it’s not just the infrastructure but social norms too…
Yup, it sounds dystopian. I am preparing for this to hit my country too eventually and I’ll unplug then. No more internet, go to the library to get WIFI for online banking on the phone that is used only for that. It’s a decision to comply. DVDs, books, games I already own and have downloaded…
Back in school, like secondary and high school, I used to drink to get my homework done and essays written in time. A sip between pages, or when it started to get hard to think. I quit drinking to smoke herbs and suddenly dropped out because I fell too far behind with all the essays, “weird.”
When cleaning and organizing, no breaks. Break means I sit down until I head to bed, so the only option is to push until everything is done and/or I crash. Drinking plenty of water and not going to bathroom also helps, like “I can go to pee once I do this… Okay I forgot, but I can go once I get this other thing done… Oh, well after this…”
Also blasting fast music helps, I can dance and daydream while getting stuff done without thinking too much. But that might backfire and cause me to zone out too, slip into the daydreams and dancing. But that’s good for my head too, so ehh.
