My instance doesn’t have downvotes but a lot of people don’t like sports cars. So many shows are way too high on the list. 30 rock, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Atlanta, The Office (US), Girls… all really good shows but definitely not top 20. It’s stupid to argue if a show is top 40 of top 70 but it’s fairly easy to tell if a show is “one of the best of the century” and those are not. Adolescence, True Detective, Band of Brothers or Black Mirror set new standards. Those shows were good but far from “best”.

Silo is weak. Only first season of Severance was good.

Deadwood. Great show. Definitely belongs on the list. Cancelled too early. I heard rumors about a movie that would work as the final episode as something.

Use of Weapons, State of the Art and Inversions would also make great movies. The rest relies on AI too much.

But I still think there’s only about 10% chance that someone who actually gets those books would be tasked with adapting them to the screen and wouldn’t fuck it up.

i think Against a dark background by Banks could make a fucking amazing series but them I’m 99% sure they would fuck it up and I wouldn’t enjoy it.

I really liked The Wool but didn’t like Silo at all. Loved HHGTTG and TV series was good but it’s just a fairly accurate adaptation, nothing great. The movie was weak. The first Dirk Gently show was mediocre, the second was fairly good but was only loosely based on the books.

I don’t get the obsession some people have with specific lores. Good lore alone doesn’t make a good show. Many shit shows were based on The Witcher. I would love to see good, deep, layered, hard Sci-Fi show and I don’t care what it’s based on. Good lore is like 10% of a good show. At the same time good book is good enough in itself, I don’t have see it rehashed in a different format.

Plenty of ways to circumvent banking restrictions. Crypto is one. The fact that every OS comes with pre-installed email client and everyone knows at least 3 free email providers but most people have no idea what matrix even is?
