Technology@lemmy.world•Peter Thiel dumps entire Nvidia stake, slashes Tesla holdings amid bubble fearsEnglish
1·4 days agoI don’t say it would MORALLY below him, quiet the contrary, but more from a skill level. Acting so obviously would be just amateurish.

3·4 days agoWouldn’t that be below somebody like Thiel? I mean, he is a professional and this seems a bit too much “amateurish”…

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Is it normal to be able to shut your nose from within?
7·4 days agoAbsolutely! The moment i catch ANYTHING remotely affecting the mucous in my nose everything is sealed shut tight. Regarding the reduced sense of smell i haven’t noticed anything.

World News@lemmy.ml•If Japan dares to intervene in Taiwan Straits situation by military means, it would constitute an act of invasion, and will be met with strong fightback from China: FM - Global Times
4·8 days agoWell, if China invades Taiwan everything in the region (at least) is going to hell one way or the other and everybody knows this. So, i think this threat is a somewhat unneeded publicity stunt.

Technology@lemmy.world•CHAT CONTROL 2.0 THROUGH THE BACK DOOR – Breyer warns: "The EU is playing us for fools – now they’re scanning our texts and banning teens!"English
3·8 days agoAnd THIS is the problem. How long is PGP / GPG around? I have vivid (and fond) memories of a time in the early 00s when we did encryption parties inviting normal people to help them install GPG and teach them how to encrypt their emails. And people came to these events! We had an event in a community centre where we did over 200 installs on laptops of “average Joes / Janes” in a single day.
But somehow, interest in private communication fizzled out over the last decade or so.
No, its not because in the end even the most noble goals will lead to tyranny and suffering when carried out by fanatics.
Do you think the biggest monsters in history started their day by thinking “Well, today I will make the world a little bit worse… hehehe”?

2·9 days agoPerhaps, if anything, i think the prompts for creating the song MAY be copyrightable.
I mean, the song is not BAD, but somewhat… generic, “beige” i would call it. Something that can play in the background in a shopping centre.

7·9 days agoWeeelll… back in the “good old days” of the GDR there was even machinery for unnoticeable opening and resealing envelopes to spy on the population…
Yup, i personally own various 32 bit machines that are completely usable in daily driving but the steady decline of supported programs to run on them is forcing them into more “retro computing” roles. Honestly, its a shame…
Shamelessly promoting the instance which is run by a buddy of mine:
