That was my usual. Always trying to claim things were good or I was doing great! Those are the ones I try to get a real talk with. But it’s also just trying to get a connection truthfully. I know my times were worst when I felt alone (and I was not, I just couldn’t find the way to talk to my friends). And such I joke as much as I can cause anytime someone says “that’s dark” or “have some sympathy” I tell them my story and try to always be open about it.

I don’t disagree with you, I just expect it cause they do horrible science always. First movie they let him back on board, 2nd movie was just action schlock but they still tried to save embryos, 3rd was heavily rewritten but they tried to snag Ripley, 4th… was yeah, but clones! Prequels involved taking off masks to get infected and… well I honestly don’t remember prequel 2. Then we have the newest prequel where there was a group of non scientists so not hashing on them really… then this with the “boy genius” which is just a rich kid who inflated his own ego and cares little with science following suit for the series.

All I can say is the universe has always had stupid smart people making stupid decisions… they lean heavily on the corruption of corporations for most of it, but the aliens universe was always about that… and the trope is tolerable for that I say.

Never cracked a joke about it when my idiations were serious. Actually talking about it in any form is a coping mechanism for me. So no jokes are usually not a red flag in my book.

Things were objectionably better under one president. The entire system is built around making sure the working poor stay there, but I can be happy that folk will come out and see me, and hey maybe they won’t get disappeared by the new SS. I refuse to let people tell me somehow the last 4 years were worse than the absolute garbage we have trudged through and are now just wading back into (that would be gaslighting by the way). Do I think somehow I would be able to afford a house and a car under Harris? Fuck no. Do I have to worry I might someday get disappeared now? It’s definitely close to the docket.
