World News@lemmy.ml•Jeffrey Sachs: U.S. Attacks Venezuela & Kidnaps President Maduro
4·26 days agoGreat video, thanks. Serious questions in no particular order:
- What sovereign state is likely the immediate next?
- If USA/Israel attack Iran, what states can Iran depend on for air support? Ground support?
- Would any Latam/Carribean state see air/ground support if USA attacks?

5·1 month agoI’m probably not the sharpest tool in the shed, and my eyes are bothering me, and I didn’t struggle with it. We’re just used to really dumbed down news articles.
They are so good!
I can relate to “mother of her creation, responsible mom, and boss mom.” Even though it’s a long time ago, now I’m just “Mom.”
Rya and see the current USA militant meddling. It’s not the Monroe Doctrine at all.

I just figured out I have web access to our emojis. Idk about everyone else, but this is new for me!
Hm, climate disaster is real, and alarming. Photos of Vietnam are quite shocking, I just checked weather for a few areas, more rain. So many lost, already. How are things in your mountains? I do hope you’re safe. I understand your anger toward US in general and callous, flippant USians, and even our ignorance, including mine. I just want you to be ok.
Thank you for your kind wishes, friend. I know others have it much worse and remain grateful for what is right with me, even if it means I have to check myself, occasionally. Please know I think of you often and fondly.
Edit: I’ll have to sort something for email. Pretty sure free providers in US won’t do. I had a $1/month paid in Germany I let lapse because uhh… They won’t do either.
Pretty alright, thanks. Some sort of weird eye issues, but coping.
I looked into xmpp, but storage on my device is almost full, I have space, but even a screenshot slows everything way down, so that I delete it immediately.
How are you, my friend?
A pity for me, to have missed your thoughts! But you are here now. And that’s what counts.

The conclusion doesn’t follow the premise.

3·3 months agoUnfortunately the left-wing Greek political poles are very fragmented, while the right-wing is very solidified. There’s a high degree of cynisism among the neutrals, to the extend where they hardly participate in any political process and just go with the flow.
This seems a Western trend, since at least the rise of Hitler, and I strongly suspect for many of the same reasons.

4·3 months agoI remember once speaking with a (then local to me) Greek business owner during the financial circus who swore fascism was the only answer. It kind of rattled me because they were kind, compassionate, and not into the Nazism, was okay with immigration, just wanted the corporatism. I asked how they planned to achieve that separation and they were adamant the politicians would figure it out. I think they planned to return to Greece, and have often wondered what they think now. It makes me a little sad for them.

7·3 months agoThanks for a concise summary. France being a bigger lender than Germany makes sense.
What is amazing to me is how quickly Iceland was forgiven, and how people are still angry at Greece.
Also, I remember when Debt Justice, then Jubilee, was buying US medical debt of the poorest, and the US squashed that.
I’m betting the world won’t be as forgiving when USA defaults, which seems inevitable, and another reason for government to be so militant about hegemony. But that’s vibes based, I’m trying to get awake.
