You can hide root from apps tho, including from apps that block root.

Do you have any info on how said security exploits related to rooting work? I have been searching them for some time to look whether to root my device but they just list it as sort of “common sense” instead of listing mitigations and such.

If you want a full Linux chroot, yeah. Proot still feels slow. If you are not interested in any of the command line uses of rooting I recommend you checkout shizuku.
