Linux@lemmy.ml•Where is Linux not working well in your daily usage? Share your pain points as of 2026, so we can respectfully discuss
2·3 days agoSo far the switch has been fantastic. Its just taking time to write new scripts and such as I port my old windows workflows over to Linux.
The one thing I haven’t gotten working is SteamVR. I’ve only been able to launch into the steam vr home and it puts me underneath the floor. I can teleport move around but can’t interact with things and it leaves me under the floor.

That way I can at least see who sold my info. I wish I would have started doing this long ago though. Some sites dont let you use the plus symbol even though it’s valid though

Linux@lemmy.ml•What are some bare minimum concepts beginner Linux users should understand?
4·3 months agoI’ve been using linux for years, but in limited contexts. With switching my primary desktop over this year I’ve found it helpful to stop by my local library and checked out some books on linux. I’m combining that with chatting with a locally running LLM. I’ve also setup an extra Raspberry Pi I had laying around with Ubuntu Lite as a sandbox OS to tinker with.
Maybe consider a portable sandbox setup like this you could quickly demonstrate or share?

1·4 months agoYes, the ability to use Overdrive directly on the Kobo to checkout or return titles is so much nicer!

Technology@lemmy.world•Amazon is making it impossible to remove the DRM from Kindle BooksEnglish
12·4 months agoI bought my first ereader this summer and got a Kindle and hated it. Returned it and got a Kobo. Its fantastic, I can just load my ebooks like it’s an external drive. I dont have to email all my ebooks to Amazon just to get them on my own device.
Does the work item describe this technical cleanup? No? PR rejected for including out of scope work.

Thanks for the insight. That’s a really awesome use case: near real-time health tracker data.
