ETSI’s Response to the EuropeanCommission’s Proposal for theCybersecurity Act 2
European standardisation should continue to foster a level playing field based on the merit of technical contributions. Any restriction should only be assessed on a case-by-case basis, subject to adequate coordination and applied in a proportionate manner and without prejudice to the WTO/TBT principles. Governing principles such as openness, impartiality, consensus and independence from special interests, must be preserved in order to maintain the integrity of the European Standardisation System. Unrestricted participation would safeguard the neutrality and trustworthiness of the European standardisation system, while ensuring the global relevance of standards developed in Europe
Seems reasonable. The better option is to force suppliers to open the software and allow installation of alternative router OS based on open standards.
