I’m wearing my beloved Rodina automatic, the first automatic wristwatch out of the USSR with 22 jewels and a bolt on automatic works using a ratchet mechanism allowing the weight to spin in both directions while charging the mainspring.
It isn’t the best time keeper as is with many mid range watches of the 1950s but it has character with its odd crab style case and military style dial. Mine has a cracked crystal which will be repaired in the coming months.
Look forward to seeing what the community has.
Omg
Haha, out-fucking-standing, smoothskin!
I wear an automatic that wasn’t very expensive that I purchased back in college many years ago. It still holds up well, but don’t really want to say what it is because I wear it every day.
The Rodina looks amazing, though!
Edit: Now you’ve got me looking up soviet watches, they aren’t that pricy for some really cool ones!
A watch for the worker 🙂
I replaced the battery on my Pebble Steel and its been on my wrist since!
That’s a beautiful digital watch!

I have bought a 43mm Kronaby Apex in blue dial after wanting to buy a hybrid smartwatch which feels more like a proper watch with some smarts because I love silent vibrating alarms and Kronaby or Sequent was my only choice.
I thought about either buying the Sekel 41mm because that wouldn’t look as big as this one on my hand (16 - 16.25 cm?), but my heart pulled to the Apex’s design a tiny bit more, so I’ve gone solely with the design affinity.
It looks absolutely huge and the watches kinda slides as well, but I would have bought straps afterwards anyway. I have nothing bad to say about this watch, I love everything about it, except my wrist being too tiny for it.
Came across this post and started researching Kronaby. It’s actually ridiculous that I’ve never bumped into them. Their watches look amazing! And they’re hybrid smart, many models have a sapphire crystal, this is a really fine brand going completely unnoticed by people like me. Is there anything not great about them though? The price tag is reasonable, I think, but if there’s something to look out for, please share
I was also able to snatch this apex with a 22% discount on a finnish watch site.
Everything works great for me atm, although bare in mind, I only use the stopwatch and timer as the main functionalities + the find my phone function on the lower button.
It seems the left subdial only allows either a day of week and a second timezone option, which saddened me a bit, but it’s understandable.
The Kronaby app works just fine, but I’m thinking on maybe trying to reverse engineer this watch to work on GadgetBridge for fun.
If you plan to purchase a Kronaby, then it can be worthwhile to check out their history. This brand started several years ago, but got bankrupt after some years, but fortunately the Festina group bought up this company. On the other side of the coin, the brand hasn’t really got improved over these past years, while some of the other Festina watches (Festina Connected lineup) uses the exact same Kronaby tech but those are not for cause those are divers. If you plan to buy a Kronaby, then be sure to buy the bluetooth 5 version of them (bt5 watches have a kr003.x tech inside them)
Also you can check out Sequent as well. They are doing a sorta similar watches as Kronaby.
AMA btw :3
whats the battery life like on that?
It is advertised as up to 2 years, and from reddit threads it actually seems to deliver on that 1.5-2 year mark, but it probably depends how many notifications have you enabled and how often you get one + if you use a stronger vibration, but let’s say 1.5 year. It has a standard CR3032 battery which can be easily replaced.
CR3032 and it does all that! that got me very interested! does it count steps?
Actually it does! This watch has a gyrometer, which is the only sensor it has afaik. (My right actually display how much steps I have taken in percentage to 10k steps)
You can set from some options on what to display on these 2 subdials. The left one only allows time of day and second timezone, but the right one can display steps, temp (probably from phone ig), phone battery and date.
The crown can be set to 2 type of actions like these: stopper, countdown timer, second time, date, dice etc.
The top and bottom pushers has a bunch of options, like assigning any API calls for example.
