the first episode is great!
i binged all the alien stuff before romulus having never seen anything. there are some hits and mehs. but this is looking really good so far. multiple factions at war for power and aliens throwing a spanner in the works. could be game of thrones-like shenanigans
It also has some interesting art direction and cinematography that makes it feel like a mixture of 70s Sci-Fi with newer stuff like District-9.
That said, there are some odd script choices that I guess were added to speed up Alien and guys with guns encounters.
I think though some viewers felt swindled by how much the first half of the episode looked like Alien, and how much the rest looks like Aliens.
Still IMO so far it’s been the best thing in this universe for a long time.
The vs. Predator shit wasn’t great. But I’m a huge fan of both the series so I rate them a 5-6 out of ten just for the fan service. I think Romulus maybe one of the stronger entries though imo. Why are you skipping it?
think there was a misunderstanding. the marketing of romulus got me interested. i watched all the other stuff and then also saw romulus.
my favorite scenes of all the series was the white humanoid alien saying im sorry. so visceral. and also the one where the predators are in a little american town. very graphic. wonderful stuff.
I liked the dog predator in that one. Way better than the “predator falls in love” plot from the one in the pyramid. And that non Romulus white alien humanoid still haunted my dreams. That last second when the skin rips off the skull then it gets crushed. Very visceral.
Only bad thing about Aliens (2) was the perky annoying as fuck marines with mental maturity of a 8th grader. Otherwise really solid movie made you totally forget that.
Resurrection didn’t. It only had really corny characters. Perky hard as a rock space pirates with the same maturity level really stank, because the movie didn’t rescue anything. Brad Dourif is a legend, but in this his weird shit made everything worse.
That was the point of Resurrection, it was basically a parody of the genre and the franchise. If you don’t take it seriously its reasonably entertaining.

yeah the cinematography is really good. they nail the vintage 70s vibe when they want to.
I’m very fond of the cassette futurism style it has.
That’s not saying I disliked the weird tech in shows like “Raised by Wolves”, I’m just tired of everything being transparent tablets.

so goood!
The only Alien film worse than Romulus is Covenant.
I liked em both for what they were. But I will rank covenant as the lowest of the entries.
Alien Resurrection still exists right?
Other than that goofy ass basketball scene,I didn’t think it was that bad. Judge me how you will.
