A separated Alberta would be a handful of urban centres (which are strongly opposed to separation) and some farmers here and there. Landlocked and surrounded by hostile borders on all sides.

You separatists in Alberta are going to be disappointed if you go through this whole transition to let yourself extract fossil fuels and then discover that we are also phasing out fossil fuels, even if we did it with a few more jumps and starts than in Canada.
Suggestion: a North American Reorganization Council. All the nations in North America have a chat, we decide what bits of land are going to belong to what countries based on the desires of the people who live there, indigenous folks get their land back and weigh in with actual weight to their desires, and every individual gets to straight up just move wherever they want, and please just let me leave this country, okay?
