“As the principal tissue for insulin-stimulated glucose disposal, skeletal muscle is a primary driver of whole-body glycemic control. Skeletal muscle also uniquely responds to muscle contraction or exercise with increased sensitivity to subsequent insulin stimulation. Insulin’s dominating control of glucose metabolism is orchestrated by complex and highly regulated signaling cascades that elicit diverse and unique effects on skeletal muscle.”
Does that mean weight training helps in diabetes management?
Absolutely, yes.
my uncle says “yes”. he’s had diabetes since childhood and after starting to do long-distance running, he says his overall quality-of-life has significantly improved.
A healthy amount of resistance training helps in very many things. Just don’t become a competitive bodybuilder or powerlifter, then you’ll have new issues.
Massively, bulking up is good for almost everything
It absolutely does.
One of best and easiest interventions to lower your risk of diabetes is a 15 minutes walk after a meal.
So when I feel the laziest. Life is full of greatest challenges.
The first 2 minutes are the hardest.
It sucks that we evolved in an environment where calories were hard to come by and our bodies are set up to keep us from starving tomorrow. And now we live in a world where food is ubiquitous and engineered to be hyper-palatable.
Ugh, this means I gotta exercise, doesn’t it.
It means that exercising a bit can reduce how much you have to exercise afterwards!
Exercise is bad for you. It’s all a lie. Don’t believe big muscle.
Ah yes, I know some of these words.
Makes sense. We evolved with movement in mind.
Actually, my mind doesn’t move much from inside my head.
