If nothing else, their incompetence will give us all the proof we need about why these agencies need to be run by experts and why they need to exist and be funded. What experts? The NIH was defunded. 10,000 post docs have left the country. People are retiring or exiting science. No other countries are taking up the slack.
The point is while people have been sleeping, Trump has killed science from the very front end of the pipeline of what produces experts. Experts are retiring in droves, and those mid-career are exiting science because they have no future. USA has NO CLUE how bad this is. A lot of science going on in the background keeping you safe is GONE.
We already knew all of that. The problem is that under capitalism, the rich make the rules. Until we supplant the capitalist class with a working class government, we will continue to see policies that put money ahead of people.
