    They paid 10 billion pounds for 677.5 million riders per year.

    That’s cheap but still a multi-year investment.

    Not saying anything about the price tag, but I loved Madrid’s metro when I lived there. I never checked timetables, I just left my flat around the same time each day and there was always a train arriving within about three minutes max during the busy hours.
