Probably my favorite show last year that I wasn’t expecting to be great.

The show was originally conceived as an ER spin-off/continuation and I probably wouldn’t have tuned in if that had been the case. I think they would have been too stuck in the past and while I’d be happy to see familiar faces again, it just would have overshadowed.

By being a new cast and a new character, even if there are plenty of ER moments (like in any medical drama), I think the show is better off being its own thing.
