Technology@lemmy.world•The AI Doomers Who Are Playing With FireEnglish
2·1 day agoYeah, i was making a point. I think not reading the article is an analogous to society as a whole taking everything at face value and don’t think for themselves.
I have this fantasy where the person decides to read it to see why i called him a sam altman lover but i know i am just a pollyanna

21·2 days agoYou love sam altman that much that you have an emotional response to gizmodo giving very valid criticism of him? I’m sorry gizmodo is right and altman is a tool. Please dont worship a man.

Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft now offering chance to win $1 million or a car if you switch to EdgeEnglish
8·3 days agoI am not saying you should use it, i was addressing app quality. The original commenter wasn’t talking about business practices but app quality. Which is why isaid “privacy aside”. Privavcy is very important and i would never have someone use chrome or edge but that wasnt the topic.

Technology@lemmy.world•The Free Market Lie: Why Switzerland Has 25 Gbit Internet and America Doesn'tEnglish
3·3 days agoThe us internet situation sucks but the author has a complete misunderstanding why. I dont k ow if they are very young or no from the united states but there is big misunderstanding of whats wrong. Its all bad but you need to go back to wwii. You need to talk about the nsa. You need to talk about 9/11.
Also we have fiber, its not shared and they rip up all the roads they want. They are a local company, locally owned.

17·3 days agoBut if we are being honest, if you don’t care about privacy, it is a good browser. Its better than chrome. You can check the performance of of both on the same machine. It also has better pdf rendering.

For the bill in california, the money was tracked backed to meta. This is all about tracking you more.
Never vote for a bill that uses words like “child safety”. They put this in bills they know wont pass with out it.
This was the tactic used in theamaxon superbiwl comer ial where they were partnering with flock to take control of your cameras and spy on you. The comercial was about a lost dog. Lickily, people didnt fall for that.

1·7 days agoThe web seems designed for chrome browsers. Also, I love the customization. But i am new to it.if there is a privacy concern, i would like to know.
To be honest, i have been eyeing librewolf over firefox. I just really do love Vivaldi’s interface and customization

5·6 days agoI’m sorry but edge is a better chrome, hands down. It performs better and had better pdf handling. I am sure there is more but there is no way in which chrome is better.
Now both suck on a privacy front and i use vivaldi but when you compare edge to chrome, edge wins.

29·8 days agoI once again return to my soap box. The psu is the most important part of your computer build. So many people build computers and say “power is power” but so many crashes and it seems even fires (this one ia new to me) can be related to bad power management. Spend the money on the good psu.

Technology@lemmy.world•Linux lays down the law on AI-generated code, says yes to Copilot, no to AI slop, and humans take the fall for mistakes — after months of fierce debate, Torvalds and maintainers come to an agreementEnglish
3·9 days agoThe copyright office never saif gpl could not be enforced. Thats s conclusion made. Hell even in what you linked the requirement for this is that ai had to be a “substantial” part. The linux teamsaid they would take submissions that were assisted but not all out generated. But to argue a point, lets pretend that an entire pull request was ai generated. That is only a small part of thr linux kernel since the kernel is what is licensed. A sma amount of uncopywrited code cant invalidate the whole project, which the license is on.
But regardless, the copyright office never said anything about enforcement of gpl. T very clear said code with no meaningful human involvement, which isnt the case here. So nothing establishes what you said true. Its all leaping to comclusions that cant be leaped to.

What are you saying? I have a samsung and nothing is backed up to google drive. In fact i just checked after reading the article. Is there another place they backup or are you talking about the backup?
