You can (and should) disable password authentication and force the use of public/private keys. Op did this, seems fine.

SSH is very handy and the industry standard.

You say “easy enough” but there are some serious tradeoffs when removing phone numbers from the equation. My mom can use Signal without my help but she wouldn’t be able to use SimpleX.

Signal is a fantastic middle ground messaging app that is secure enough for me to use and easy enough for my mom to use.

I also have SimpleX but I have exactly 1 contact there…

That feels like a huge downside!

Privacy != anonymous

Compared to the software we were using before such as Skype, TeamSpeak, Ventrilo and Mumble… The UI is amazing.

I’d happily move to Matrix but I’d lose all the servers for my hobby interests. No point in having both.
