I for one look forward to taking my LUKS encrypted PinePhone thru US customs
Just have to pick the Lock Screen image. Right now I’m leaning towards Fountainhead Charlie

In a few months CalyxOS should be up again. Personally I m waiting for that
50+ Caucasian cis male multinational tech company middle manager here.
I speak Spanish on work zooms, when everyone else is in Mexico.
TBH I do it because I try to avoid being the asshole boss who everyone else has to accommodate, and instead be the pluralistic, humble boss that shows appropriate deference and respect to the employees that actually do the work.
Offense: “a bit rude”
Punishment: no job, bad references, no health insurance
oh and props for that… for doing and making new things in general
Just that distro-where-a-theme-would-do is something I see a lot of and people might wind up tackling a larger harder problem than they need to and not spending as much time & effort on the stuff they intended to.
And, a lot lot lot more people can easily download & appreciate a theme than move distros (though some perverse individuals make a habit of the latter)
Like a lot of Linux distros, this should have just been a window manager theme and maybe a helper app
Absolutely no sense bringing in stuff like init system and depmod and C compiler version when what you care about is UI theming
TBH it has not really been an issue for me. My biggest real beef is just that I prefer just having regular text files in /var/log instead of using journalctl. And I feel like it’s a Microsoft-style monolith that flies in the face of the Unix philosophy that I honor and revere.
Use any distro you like! Just make sure it is without systemd
I was being a bit loose. You can video record people in public – just not audio. Any audio on your video recording device makes it illegal.
There are 13 US states like this
As an American, I look forward to when Americans fire Mr Trump after publication of supportive “shared secrets” to Jeffrey Epstein and illegal placement of Ghislane Maxwell into a country club prison
Where I live, recording someone without their consent – even in public – is a crime.
I have personally argued both sides on this. Over time I have come to favor it.
EDIT: some background
It’s mindblowing how early in the game Windows became enshittified
“OMG you got a new CPU and harddrive, maybe this is a pirated copy…”
For anyone that hasn’t played with this yet

And props to the dedicated folks still running Invidious instances like https://yewtu.be/
TBH I chose Funkwhale for my solution because it looked easy and out of the box, I just add a single Docker and subdomain to my existing site.
It wound up being more or less what you describe.
I may well follow OP’s guide and nuke my Funkwhale despite the work I put into it and the fact that it does basically work for its intended purpose
Question: did you consider Funkwhale , and if so why did you choose this other stack instead?
EDIT: fix link sry
you’re gonna have to get ads
I don’t think that necessarily follows.
Have you heard of self-hosted Patreon-similar Ghost ?
Fuck GOOG for normalizing surveillance capitalism
Fuck YouTube in particular for making it basically impossible to usefully host an Invidious proxy any more and for their algorithmic manipulation
