The world has been watching the genocide for nearly 2 years now and no meaningful action has been taken to stop it by any country.
I think the point that was being made is that the UN appears to be completely powerless as long as the US continues to back Israel (and still has veto power in the security council).
Only 86%? Clearly there’s a lot of doubt among these genocide scholars. It would be rash to stop the bombing of hospitals and civilians and to allow food and aid to enter. The last functional hospital in southern Gaza that was recently bombed might still have a Hamas inside.

ChatGPTs responses here are vastly different to what you’d get from a Google search. It presented itself as a supportive friend, accepting the suicidal intent, basically planning out all the small details (including an offer to help with a suicide note without any request from Adam), and emotionally encouraging him by telling him that he wasn’t weak or giving up.
One of the most damning examples of this encouragement was a sentence that, in reference to his family, said something like “you don’t owe them your survival”.
If OpenAI wasn’t a huge for-profit company that claims to have strong safeguards against things like this then maybe people wouldn’t be placing so much of the blame on ChatGPT.
If a friend of Adam’s said all the things that ChatGPT said to him they would certainly be found to be culpable to some degree.
Sorry, I was asking about GrapheneOS vs stock Android. I assumed that your comments on it were in comparison to stock Android since that’s what the previous user most likely was asking for.

Having not used default Android for many years now, what makes GrapheneOS worse (aside from a few apps not working - which isn’t an issue I’ve had, fortunately)?
My fear is that we’ll end up in a situation where 90% of the internet is just YouTube, Facebook, Reddit and other giants and people get all of their news, reviews and other information from those sites, which I think is worse than having ads.
This is pretty much already the case though. And they all have plenty of ads despite being incredibly profitable through their paid offerings.

Websites existed before internet ads came about, and while it may be true that most would die without ads I’d be happy to see them go because the vast majority of websites have no value and only exist to try and make a few bucks off ads.
Hosting for most websites these days is virtually free. For about 80% of mine I only have to pay for the domain names, and I have no desire to serve ads to my visitors under the guise of covering costs.
The alternatives are directly charging for access to a service, or providing it for free and relying on donations or payment just for extra/bonus features/content. These methods are very successful when something is actually worth paying for.

I’d imagine you’d need a browser that has developer tools, which is far less common on mobile. A simpler solution would be to use a separate app that just takes the page URL and downloads the video for you, such as this one: https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.junkfood.seal/
It’s not something I’ve used very much as I don’t have much need for it, but I have used Locus a few times and I’m pretty comfortable with their privacy policy compared to the vast majority of other options.
What I meant was the difference in who was targeted. My understanding, which could be wrong, is that specific groups (and more specifically, their leaders) were primarily targeted by the operations carried out back then, whereas today they are also detaining/deporting etc people who genuinely have no offenses or ties to such groups. Even Trump supporters and their family members are being persecuted. I think it’s these seemingly indiscriminate actions that make the average person less willing to take a stand, especially if they don’t feel as though they’ve been affected badly enough yet to risk sticking their neck out.
In any case it’s a terrifying and truly fucked situation.

I don’t know that the suppression by the government during those protests was anything like what is going on today though. The government has been detaining regular protestors alongside movement leaders/organisers to scare people into thinking that nobody is safe. The Trump administration has even been targeting people for deportation based on the fucking Canary Mission.
Another big difference is the fact that many of the protestors back then were at risk of being directly affected via the draft, whereas the impact of the Palestinian genocide on the majority of Americans is minimal to nonexistent.
The point Aceticon is making is that it doesn’t really matter who the US president is when Israel is concerned.

There are plenty of options for both software and OS, so not every combination is going to have the same level of support as Windows, where every user gets the same experience.
That said, I’ve heard lots of good things about NoMachine.
The US electoral system is utterly fucked. At least voting for a third-party in Aus can make some sort of difference.
