1·3 years agoYes, PLA creeps ridiculously fast in hot conditions it is unsuitable for use in any environment over 35C tbh.
PETG is better but will still warp/fade over time if it’s exposed to the sun, and likely need replacing.
You need to be printing in ABS or ideally ASA if you want all-weather resistant cases. Which means now your printer needs an enclosure and ventilation…

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Which proprietary software do you prefer over their open-source alternatives, and why?English
1·3 years agounfortunately “pretty good” is not “guaranteed”, which is often what I need for both work and school. I tried to make myself use only libre options for like a week and just about every assignment I opened was broken in some way or another so I always ended up back in Word.
I’ll still use the libreoffice options if i’m, say, already logged into my Linux install and don’t want to bother going back to Windows. But since I get Office for free thru work and school, and so does everyone else, well… I just use it.

1·3 years agoHonestly, its gotta be the MS Office suite.
Yes if you’re just writing your own simple documents libreoffice/OpenOffice will work, but if you have to do anything more complex than a single page spreadsheet, text-on-white presentations, or 3 page MLA book reports… or, even worse, have to interact with documents and spreadsheets created by basically any other person on the planet, I’ve just never had a good consistent experience with any of the free options.

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•What streaming services do you pay for?English
1·3 years agoSpotify. It is the only subscription I have aside from my VPN, and mostly because their library is MASSIVE.
With how much I drive I’m constantly listening to the damn thing and being able to pick a genre and let it shuffle without thinking about it is 1000% worth the ten bucks a month to not be constantly picking songs, downloading them, sorting and transferring the library to my phone, maintaining storage space, etc…

Considering how much shit I see retail workers go through, this… honestly seems like a rational response. I’m sure it will immediately turn into middle managers using it to abuse employees of course though.
