If they want to tackle this problem they could add a separate low power tracker embedded in the body somewhere. Prolly not doing it yet but if they do you’d have to know where it is to cut it out.
Soudns like a good time to go spend some money in the gay village bars then. Perhaps march in the parade. I’d like to see the parade without the corpo floats. I recall the Montreal parade was much less corporate than the Toronto one. Lots of unions and other people orgs. The communists were at the very front of the parade.

Reminder - AI does not need to be able to replace anyone to lead to layoffs. All it needs to be able to do is increase productivity in some sector by some measurable or perceived, or expected amount.

3·3 days agoYup. And platforms like Play/Amazon/etc. are even further away from markets than big box stores because people don’t all see the same items for sale to choose from, which is fundamental to the functioning of free markets.
BTW I’m not a fan of free markets, but for the limited set of economic use cases they serve well, at least they gotta function as such.

17·3 days agoI think one reason is that given the stage in capitalism we’ve been living for some time now has completely fucked people’s understanding of what markets, competition, monopoly power, and so on are. Not people’s fault really. We live in this system, we observe and learn about it from what it claims about itself. We have to do extra work to have any different understanding. Most people don’t have extra time for unpaid work.

5·3 days agoI like Valve as much as the next guy, but Google showed us that having choices and not holding 90% of the market doesn’t mean you can’t exercise monopolist power. Sure Valve isn’t Google. At least not yet. Given they aren’t publucly traded and their current ownership being what it is, there’s better chance they won’t turn into what Google did for a while.

5·6 days agoWell they fucked their arab allies in the region. They lost their bases hosted by those allies. This means the Americans can’t rely on the pre-existing material base or the goodwill of the arabs. What they got left in the region is Israel. Perhaps they think they no longer need the arabs to project power.

Wait, I was told only China, Russia and North Korea that did offensive cyber attacks and espionage. 🤔🤔
