Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Is celebrating birthdays much important for you?English
4·10 hours agoYeah it always feels awkward getting people to celebrate me. Like “hey guys lets have a party where you give me gifts and celebrate my existence”. Seems weirdly presumptuous

2·10 hours agoYou don’t have to get your friends involved, you can just do something nice for her. Just pretend that its Mothers Day or something

4·13 hours agoIf you don’t want to celebrate your birthday, you can take the day to celebrate your mom. She’s the one who did all the work, after all. And I think pushing an entire human being out of your birth canal is worthy of some recognition.

13·2 days agoAssuming he hasn’t destroyed the evidence, this could potentially lead to more arrests once police search his laptop and read his texts messages and emails.

2·2 days agoGood point. Though I’ve heard some of these self driving cars connect remotely to a person to help drive when the AI doesnt know what to do, so I guess it’s conceivable that the car could connect to the cloud. That would be super error prone though. Connectivity issues could brick your car.

6·3 days agoYes. In theory cameras should be enough to get you up to human level driving competence but even that is a low bar.

5·3 days agoI agree it would be better. I’m just saying that in theory cameras are all that would be required to achieve human level performance, so long as the AI was capable enough

Technology@lemmy.world•Tesla Robotaxis Reportedly Crashing at a Rate That's 4x Higher Than HumansEnglish
31·3 days agoHe’s right in that if current AI models were genuinely intelligent in the way humans are then cameras would be enough to achieve at least human level driving skills. The problem of course is that AI models are not nearly at that level yet
I doubt they would bother going after a one person instance, even if it could be traced back to you

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Will Lemmy/ the fediverse become age verified platforms?English
2·4 days agowe already see a phenomenon going on with Fediverse, and Web as a whole: invite-only and/or need-to-apply places
The need-to-apply model would be totally unscalable for traditional social media platforms because of the sheer number of requests that would need to be processed on a centralized. But something like this can work on the Fediverse because you can split the workload up between different instances

Damn so thats why I keep buying potato chips
