11·6 days agoPain is a signal that a life form has been damaged. I should think that most if not all multicellular life forms have some method of detecting when they are damaged or dying, else their survival would be highly unlikely.
What I don’t fathom is why some scientists do not approach all life on earth with basic assumptions of self-preserving behaviour and the implications therein.
A creature does not need to be able to point at you and go “ooga booga” to have feelings.
If this was the solution to running out of printer ink, I applaud it even harder.

And that’s not a gate, that’s a billboard. Full stop. Those are very standard along highways in farmers fields.
Celsius isn’t actually metric, per say. Its based on the freezing point of water while farenheight is based on the freezing point of mercury.
Celcius is what most of the world used because 0 is where water freezes and is very relevant to the human condition, hence why its the most used.
It was adopted as part of the metric SI system but unlike all the units developed for metric which actually use the above scale, I do not believe there is any practical use for this with celcius.
Kelvin does use this however.
What do you think the metric system is?
Decimeter is used often enough.
All of these can be used with any measure, and that’s the point.

2·16 days agoSure, but the US was still part of the anti-bribery pact until now.
Its also exceedingly hard for CBN to exit a contract quickly. Procurement cycles for things like printing money and DLID systems are years in length, generally two. CBN would need to wait for the next RFC cycle, and then simply not put in an offer.
They can’t just exit a contract for these types of systems, it’s not juice exports.
And if they kept doing business with a country taking bribes, they would lose their contracts in Canada, NZ, Australia and others. But those three are huge contract holders. It would kill CBNs business.
Well, it’s a bit more complex than that. As a company that prints money, they are required to audit and vet countries before doing business with them, and terminating business with countries that accept bribes, because they print money.
They also do drivers licenses, passports, and border control systems.
Doing business with one nation that accepts bribes could cause the anullment of contracts from every nation they deal with.
If the US starts taking bribes officially via moves like this, CBN will have to exit the country.
Wonder if this means Canadian Bank Note will cease business with US State governments as there is a strong policy against doing business with countries that take bribes.
