That’s true, ICE & Co. are also all over Mexico right now because of the cartels. The whole border lock down and immigrant round-up thing is only half of their current force. And one of the big things they’ve been doing down there is monitoring/tapping their communication networks.

It’s more about the latency since it’s right over the border (<30ms). It’s also a full 10Gbps so I can let family/friends use it and don’t have to worry if a few of them are pulling the full 1Gbps from home connection. Doubt I’m gonna be able to match both of those with a Chinese VPS :/

You’re probably right, they also had the mid-season breaks back then. Which really slowed the pacing down. So even when watched weekly now, you don’t get to digest it all the same way.
Like the recent Gorn episodes. Those would have been the mid-season finale & premiere on the older shows.
PS - I still hate Neelix… with a passion. I literally dread every scene with him during every rewatch. They should have seriously just shot him out of the airlock in episode 3. And B’Elanna to a lesser extent (she acted like a spoiled child, not an angry Klingon).
I actually enjoyed the premise of the wedding planner episode. Again, I just think they take it too far sometimes most of the time.
As a lore nerd (probably the only reason I still watch tbh) I loved that they finally confirmed Trelane was an early (younger) evolution of the Q, for example.
And I’ll give you the fact that TOS was a bit strange and I’m fine with episodes showing homage. But think about it, that show only ran for 3 seasons and when it was rebooted in 1979 for the movies (and later with TNG) it took itself a lot more seriously. Especially once Wesley was gone on TNG.
I couldn’t stand Discovery at all. All of the crying and emotional break-downs ruined it for me. It felt like watching a high school drama where the whole being in space part was just a backdrop. (13 Reasons Why: In Space!)
SNW feels like it’s trying to do the opposite by being quirky and just taking it too far. A high school rom-com rather than a full blown drama, if you will. (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: With Aliens!)
As someone who’s been watching Trek for 40+ years. These new shows just don’t feel like Star Trek anymore. The franchise has been co-opted into… something else.
