2·19 minutes agoIt is starting to feel like it. Might not see price decline for a while yet, but the upswing on pricing is nearing breaking point.

2·21 minutes agoI suspect if anyone is buying these is because of them needing to meet an existing strict spec. Not sure what that would be but it is a possibility.

3·24 minutes agoI hadn’t been keeping a close eye on pricing but was blown away the other day. The Nvidia RTX 5090 launched at $4090 here in Australia, that was already obscene. Nowadays almost 2 years later, you are lucky if you find one under $12,000!

1·23 minutes agoFor a while there, second hand mini desktops like the Lenovo/Optiplex’s could be picked up for about half the price of a new Pi5. Typically had equal RAM, loads of SSD storage and desktop class(ish) CPU perfomance, plus all the other benefits (Secureboot, x86 compatibility so you could run Windows if you wished). Only major thing missing was the GPIO connection.
But looking now the prices are increasing rapidly as they have been discovered. The cheap ones are typically striped of RAM and storage.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Everywhere I go I see this stupid AI gen font
3·38 minutes agoYes! It feels like every second restaurant in my area has suddenly gone with this font and AI slop images for their menus. Lets call it Tragic Sans or something like that.
I see that, I go elsewhere.

politics @lemmy.world•Trump makes desperate push to erase his 34 felony convictions after midterm blowout
3·44 minutes agoI was starting to think ole Donny T was going to get away with it via the grave while everyone below him that propped up his nonsense got the brunt of it. Maybe I should have been a little more optimistic for once.
He has been especially down trodden and looking a little scared the last few days.

But yeah Brand always had these weird, creepy vibes and my wife was particularly switched on to that as well. She never trusted him from day one.

memes@lemmy.world•Seems like they worked fine for decades before the internet
2·3 days agoThat is because to be the most efficient they have to constantly adjust the deadzone temperature. Its not just monitoring but active control. This is based on local air temperature, humidity and stock levels. To be even more efficient they put a thousand fridges online so that a small team can do the work of a much larger local team.
So the real reason is that to increase profit margins, they consolidated lots of workers behind a few and did this via the internet. A common story the world over.
Yes, we know it was called the The South American Blackout of 2019.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Whats more likely: The zodiac killer was a cryptography savant or he was just a troll?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How soon until you think the riots and protests from Europe reach the USA?
13·4 days agoFolks in the US are both comfortable enough and unsteady enough that they will not move. It was Zizek about a week back who said it, people are not desperate enough yet to get to this stage. *** sniff! ***
