Images and videos on Activity Pub are sent as direct links to the host.
So you can send text comments from Lemmy to peertube that will be replicated, and watch the video by “following” direct links to the host (it is done automagically in your browser or app).
It will probably need it’s own RFC but let’s hear from the devs if they want to do it. (In my experience it’s hard to push through the desired change)
You will have better time trying to implement this in piefed
You have an old android so I don’t remember how it was.
Currently there is notification/popup to enable mass storage through USB.
KDE connect works through network so not really through USB. (Works through tethering USB tho)
Also check cable as they ware prone to breaking.
It get’s better with experience. I have nuked my system countless times at the beginning.
If you are too frustrated with Linux maybe give it a rest or consider dual-booting instead. It sound that you are frustrated and don’t have a clear head to troubleshoot.
I also hate fixing issues but once you set your system up, with all correct nvidia drivers and couple other miscellaneous items (gnome extensions, config variables) it will be “smooth” sailing up until you reinstall.
There is !canvas@toast.ooo and it’s open source.
(There are more clones of r/place after 2016 so maybe other one will be better like OurWorldOfPixels)
If you set a background to your town of choice I would guess it will be close enough for a group of friends.
I will probably switch to AT proto via Wafrn. (When I feel like getting around to do it.)
IMO AT proto is better protocol for web 3.0 social media than activity pub that feels like web 1.0 with interoperability.
AT proto is based on identities not on instances. If your instance is gone then too bad. Your account is gone too. In AT proto you can forcefully migrate your account.
Subscribing to independed labellers and feeds is also good. It feels like build your social media but with modularity than interconnected silos of instances.
I don’t like that AT proto is controlled by bluesky but usefulness is better that principle. I will just switch to another thing when it enshittifies enough.
Yay! Finally post tags!
One advantage of this is, unlike meshtastic, I already have the hardware in the pocket.
There’s a new setting in the text tool to control the direction of the text outline. You can have the text outline grow inward, outward, or in both directions!
Finally!!!
Depends if you ride for commute (as in you need to get from point A to B) or for recreation (bike for couple of hours)
If it’s recreation it’s fine to cut down on distance and tire yourself out. Treat it like gym training. If you aren’t tired, it wasn’t good training. Maybe plan a shorter trip but a more intense one.
I found that after couple of months of daily commuting my speeds improved and I could finally go up that steep hill without stopping.
Good luck and stay safe!
Great blog post! The mastodon outrage was a highlight as I see it again and again. Dunking on bridgy-fed, opt-out telemetry and donation pop-ups.
As I have tried to put myself in the shoes of a typical person I can see how they can view FOSS as crazy people in tinfoil hats creating templeOS.
As I understand (I could be wrong) bridgy is not useful as it could be as it got bullied into being opt-in instead of opt-out.

Basically the IPFS is not performat enough for Social Media, and project has connections to crypto.
Ok, but there is something here. in 99% percent everything works fine but when @sykaster@feddit.nl and I go to https://survev.io/ the performance is awful. Tested both on X11 and Wayland.
I knew a guy that went by the name Seraph
