Gears like this are one of my minor pet peeve in media. I know this was AI but even humans get it wrong a lot.

There was this guy in my class who was the class clown. One day in chemistry, he took a few lead weights from a scale and stuck it on a hot plate. Once he had a nice puddle of lead, he broke open a thermometer and poured in some mercury. He sat there playing with the (fuming) hot mix for a bit before people realized. Class had to be evacuated, and the class clown dude got sent to different school afterwards.

Im guilty of this. I dont write out the passwords in plaintext though. Its mostly just a few letters to remind me of which version of my many “master” passwords i used and then asterisks. _{P***W0*******$} kinda thing. I know its bad but I can’t bring myself to trust a password manager.

Im not sure when the update came out but I’ve had two forced updates in the past 3-4 months for my Pixel 6. Im assuming thats when it changed. I am very meticulous about checking settings after updates but It looks like this was only online settings for your google account, not local to the phone, which is probably how I missed it.

Funny how I turned off any data sharing for google years ago but the inclusion of gemini somehow voids my previous decision.

Its gotten to the point, I search from DDG or Mojeek or something instead of in YouTube. YT search is just a placebo at this point.

That brings up a good point though. Based on just the screenshot here, it seems like the user wont have a choice of what gets uploaded. People keep some pretty raunchy photos on their phone sometimes. Even kids might have some questionable photos. This is just asking for trouble.

Some of them, maybe. A lot of people fail to realize that joining the armed forces provide a lot of opportunities that wouldn’t be afforded to most of the kids joining. People growing up in poor families without an “out” can join and have higher education paid for and job training when they leave. Im not sticking up for any of the boot lickers out there, but I have to believe that the majority of our armed forces are good, normal people.

FWIW, I didn’t vote this past election. Not for lack of trying, mind you. I sent for a mail in ballot and it never showed. I corrected my address (which somehow got switched to an old address) and requested another and every time, the site would throw an error. By that point it was too late and I would need to vote in person which didn’t work because of the address thing. And before people go “well you should have made sure first”, I did. I verified everything months prior and it changed my info after…

Shoot, I remember watching one of those “Tech of the Future” shows (think Beyond 2000 but it wasn’t that) back around 2008ish. It showcased some future drone tech and was talking about fully autonomous AI driven drones even back then. If its not already a reality in several countries, then its going to be one very soon.
