It’s pretty obvious from where I’m standing that a far right takeover of Europe is also on the horizon and there is nothing we can do to stop it. There is so much power and money behind these movements, and they only have to succeed ONCE, where we have to succeed EVERY TIME in order to keep our protections.

It won’t last though. We’re going the exact same route USA is going, just slower and more splintered. But the end destination is the same.

First, its results are often simply wrong, so that’s no good. Second, the more people use the AI summaries, the easier it’ll be for the AI companies to subtly influence the results in their advantage. Think of advertising or propaganda.

This is already happening btw, and the reason Musk created Grokipedia. Grok (and even other llm’s!) already use it as a “trusted source”, which it is anything but.

You can set up any AI assistant that way with custom instructions. I always do, and I require it to clearly separate facts with sources from hearsay or opinion.

The EU doesn’t always have the best track record for this type of thing either. Look up how polluted Flanders is with PFAS. It’s literally the most PFA polluted area in the world, but you’ll never hear a peep about it because the chemical companies responsible have a firm hold on the narrative.

I liked the sound they made. People have been using them to make music for ages. Best is still imperial march played on 48 floppy drives (or thereabouts).

Consumers are what, less than 10% of MS’s revenue? Most of their income is from cloud (Azure, O365) so they can afford to treat their consumer customers like trash. They don’t give a shit about your 50-150 bucks for a win license because it’s peanuts to them.

The only viable option for consumers is to massively ditch MS products altogether and migrate to alternatives, which used to be in short supply but luckily aren’t anymore.
