So one just lost, and the other lost because of the vote distributions were not in her favor: sexist/racist state electoral votes were needed that she didn’t get. I stand unrefuted.

Our nation is too sexist and too racist for AOC to win. I’ll still vote for her if she runs.

They have failed to recognize how things have changed, and are well prepared to fight the GOP of the 1990s. Shit has changed, idiots, and you need to hand the reins over to folks like AOC and Hogg. Stop sidelining them, start paying attention to the canary in your goddamned coalmine.

Floon@lemmy.mlto politics @lemmy.world•MAGA influencers fall in line behind Trump after U.S. airstrikes hit Iran10·3 months agoNot to praise MAGA or anything, but this is part of why the GOP wins more than it should: their voters swallow their misgivings and turn out for them. Dem voters will jettison all support on the merest wafting zephyr of news they don’t entirely like.
You don’t want sheep, but you want voters who can get on the bus when the election comes around. You want to fight to upgrade the party between cycles, but once primary season is over, get on the bus and vote.

It's brutal - and trueEnglish5·4 months agoYou picked a bad start date for Arab/Jewish trouble in Palestine. You also appear to ignore how the other Arab states screwed over the Palestinians to keep them desperate.
But I didn’t comment to debate this. I commented to disabuse the notion that Israel is using the Iron Age to think what they think. Neither are the Arabs.

They live in the living memory of the Six-Day War. I’m not going to defend the behavior of the current Israeli government, but in no way are they just living out the biases the Old Testament when they think neighboring Arab states are antagonistic to them. They remember 1967, and if you think that all neighboring Arab states have done a 180 from where they were then, you’re very much wrong.

No matter who is in office, the reality of this is strong.
Just the same as the NATO countries are finding it complicated decoupling from the MAGA US. It’s not so simple to unwind national relationships. It would be nice if it was easy, but it just isn’t, especially in a democracy where there’s a significant fraction of voters who are unmoved by the Gaza disaster. It’s sad but true.

Because they are sexist and racist, and no other factor has ever mattered. They will claim all kinds of other reasons, but they’re lying. We’ve seen it time and time again: they’ll complain about something that a Dem does, but not when a Republican does the same thing or worse, so you know it’s all actually about culture war BS, which comes down to racism and sexism with the GOP.
