  • Hogg, who has levied harsh criticism over elderly incumbent Democrats’ refusals to step down from their offices,

The concept that a Democrat in office who refuse to step down, is almost never challenged because nobody want to fund it, is undemocratic and counterproductive.

David Hogg is absolutely on the right side here. USA is a deeply flawed democracy, and it starts already within the parties, and it should be pretty self evident that it needs reform.

It’s crazy the DNC goes against him because of “tradition” when he is so clearly right. They had 2 major presidential losses to GOP because of similar stupidity.

If the “Democrats” aren’t even democratic, what hope is there for democracy in USA?

  • Yes I agree, and of course we hope the insanity will end. But as you write, just because Democrats manage to get elected next time, is not enough to restore trust.
When (if) things return to normal, we can trade and cooperate, but we can’t have any dependence on USA anymore.

It must be tough to be American right now, and I don’t mean inflation, house prices or recession. But the psychological environment must be insanely stressful.
I really feel for the Americans that understand what’s going on, and tried to prevent it.
Personally when Trump got elected, I decided to simply disregard USA as friend and partner. And consider USA as a country as mostly irrelevant now.
Maybe if there’s a revolution, and AOC becomes president, then I would have hope for a quick recovery. But there are not any realistic way I can see for that in the near future.

  • Which is exactly what many have warned about for 20 years. The Microsoft lock-in is insane.
It’s better to get out sooner rather than later.
But considering most of EU is planning similar transitions, I’d be surprised if they don’t cooperate on making better import of MS formats in Libre Office.

The Danish government is also planning to make guidelines to make a smooth transition easier. Which will be available for private companies too.

Something that may make it easier is that it’s been law for more than a decade, that ALL documents from public services must be made in open standards.

  • This definitely did not happen over the course of 6mo,

It absolutely did, the economy was doing fine and clearly recovering after Covid under Biden.
Trump has managed to make the USD plummet, increase inflation again and drag USA into a recession, and make USA lose it’s last AAA credit rating with a bill giving trillions of dollars in tax relief for the most wealthy.

How you can fail to see the HUGE difference fromt the recovering economy under Biden, and how it’s now failing on ALL parameters is very weird.
