It’s not illegal but manufacturers are making it harder to impossible. That must be illegal.
As long as you can flash them, everything’s possible.

You only need uBlock basically, beware of other extensions. They’re mostly snake oil and Firefox has anti-fingerprinting features per default.
Firefox has by default as well.
That’s not a problem of the technology though, that’s human idiocy.
