Seeing what’s happening in the UK with digital ID’s, this is scary and bad for privacy

How so? They already have a government issued IDs tracked via central register and all this does is offer it via different medium for convenience. Privacy is better because you can select which data points you’re sharing / confirming.
This is better in the same sense digital money is better until they freeze your account for some arbitrary reason
Digital ID is so fancy and so convenient, IF the government never missuses it, as they are doing it in the UK, forcing it
How can this be misused specifically? Your ID is in a central register already.
