New wooden stakes with pink ribbons have been posted on the tree line at the Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge, and environmentalists are fearful that the border wall will cut straight through the forest and sensitive wildlife areas.
The stakes were visible on Monday south of the levee where U.S. Customs and Border Protection originally planned to have contractors build the 30-foot-tall steel border wall.
