This is just the beginning. You’ll get a knock on your door at midnight, for something you said on a defunct political website in 1997.

If one is ‘held at gunpoint’ and survives, then they’re a gun survivor. The words we choose to describe violent encounters, matter.

It’s not OK to treat immigrants this way either. Drawing the distinction exposes the racism of the whole endeavor of boarder control; that Americans are just better people.

These tactics were developed to deal with drug cartels and gangs, not cleaning ladies and cashiers. (The tactics don’t work on cartels or gangs either)

It’s not ok but there is also a legitimate point to be made by establishing that this is happening routinely to citizens ( who are afforded greater protections under the law)

You’re right it’s not okay to treat immigrants like that, but the distinction is valid all the same.

Ladies and gentlemen, Justice Kavanaugh’s solo concurrence from Noem v. Vasquez Perdomo:

Immigration stops based on reasonable suspicion of illegal presence have been an important component of U. S. immigration enforcement for decades, across several presidential administrations. In this case, however, the District Court enjoined U. S. immigration officers from making investigative stops in the Los Angeles area when the stops are based on the following factors or combination of factors: (i) presence at particular locations such as bus stops, car washes, day laborer pickup sites, agricultural sites, and the like; (ii) the type of work one does; (iii) speaking Spanish or speaking English with an accent; and (iv) apparent race or ethnicity.

    …

Under this Court’s precedents, not to mention common sense, those circumstances taken together can constitute at least reasonable suspicion of illegal presence in the United States. Importantly, reasonable suspicion means only that immigration officers may briefly stop the individual and inquire about immigration status. If the person is a U. S. citizen or otherwise lawfully in the United States, that individual will be free to go after the brief encounter. Only if the person is illegally in the United States may the stop lead to further immigration proceedings.

Ever had a gun pointed at you? Were you cool with it, or did you experience fake outrage? Why don’t you sit on the concrete in chains for a couple hours and think it over?

All I said was that this article was written to create fake outrage but it was removed for reasons…?

Almost every country in the world has stop and identify laws, if you look out of place in an area, law enforcement almost always has the right to stop and ask you for legal identification to make sure you are legally allowed to be where you are. It’s not controversial. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a tourist or a citizen either, they have the right to stop you and ask for some sort of ID in almost all parts of the world. Yes, it has happened to me.

America also has a gun problem where too many people have access to guns (legally or not) and therefore law enforcement has to act extremely hostile and very quick to draw their own weapons to counteract this.

Next thing y’all are going to be outraged by is being carded when buying alcohol, guess what, you need to present a legal ID for that as well…

I wonder how quick this one will get removed without a reason by power tripping mods.
