Nebraska data centers are required to turn in an annual report to Nebraska’s Department of Water, Energy, and Environment, but some state statutes are preventing the public from seeing just how much electricity and water data centers are using.

Our gov is a dumb fuck bit he did one thing right requiring them to disclose their usage information. They did but redacted the important parts. How the fuck do they get to get away with this?

    So, just in Nebraska, Google data centers use roughly 3 billion liters / year.

    Which, to put in perspective, is about 3 days of water use for the entire metropolis of greater Vancouver. (3.11 million people)

      That 3 billion gallon number also probably doesn’t include the water lost during power generation.
