Be aware that soulseek is crazy insecure. Plaintext passwords, unencrypted plaintext traffic. Any attacker can see who you are, what you do and can even change what you send
Yea I feel like it should be used behind a VPN. With unique credentials (as should be there norm on any platform). And maybe, from what you’re telling me, on a spare PC if possible.
Yeah, and additionally you shouldnt do anything else on that VPN
And expect that any file you downloaded might have been modified, so check everything for malware! You could also use ffmpeg in a temporary VM and remux everything to be sure there is no weird stuff embedded in media containers. Niche threat but this could work
Don’t use uTorrent. Use transmission, qbittorent, or deluge.
Or skip torrents entirely and use soulseek. Or Usenet.
But not utorrent.

Seriously. You quit using some streaming service because they gave you ads, so you use a bittorrent client that has ads?
Plenty of good ones out there that don’t. Open source qbittorrent being my personal favorite.
Usenet+soulseek is the way to go imo. I only use torrents as a backup these days.
