This seems like a worse own goal than “defund the police” as a slogan, best of intentions but the execution was so bad.

I’d put heavy money on Republicans running chunks of this interview hard during the run up to the midterms.

I have a sinking fear this will be one of those tragicomic moments of earnest, well intentioned progressives inadvertently helping trump, like when many sat out the 2024 election in a misguided attempt to somehow help Palestinians.

    The democrats lost because 6 Million people who voted for them in 2020 didn’t show up in 2024. GOP tally stayed mostly the same.

    Economy was a major issue when polling voters, but more than that we saw the largest youth demographic shift towards conservatives ever recorded, as a result of TikTok and Twitter campaigning for Trump.

    Nobody who ever voted democrat wanted Trump’s border plans back in effect, unless they’re brain damaged. It wasn’t a key issue.

      A) blaming everything on tiktok and twitter is a little silly. (Though, I’d day the most effective part of that was convincing progressive allies to help trump by not voting.)

      B) you should look at the exit polling, the top concern for trump voters was the economy and the border.

      Which is why, going on TV saying your end goal is to abolish borders is mind bogglingly unhelpful. No, people probably don’t like trump’s approach to the border but to then have someone argue their approach is no borders… just, goddamn that is so unhelpful.

        Trump voters are the kind of people who would vote for a racist pedophile billionaire. It doesn’t matter what you say on TV, they will never vote for you. That’s why the border is a non-issue.

            It’s closer to one third of the country, the same third that has consistently voted for unabsolvable evil and corporate interests every 2 years for decades because they mistakenly thought the GOP would lower taxes and that it would make the world better.

            As for the exit poll, amounts below 10% are generally considered response bias. There is no way of knowing if that 7% of people voted for Clinton in 2016 and Trump in 2024, but it’s highly unlikely given Trump’s vote total increased 3% while the DNC candidates declined 8%.

            I’m not sure if you were paying attention to it at the time but internal and external forces were pushing the protest vote movement to get DNC voters to disengage and self-disenfranchise. Wikipedia overview link here.

                I explained my reasoning pretty well in the comment. If you assume the sample accurately maps to the whole population then the numbers don’t add up, meaning some single digit percentage is lying

                  But that’s not at all a thing in statistics. I’m not sure what you’re misunderstanding but you can’t just make up arbitrary cutoffs, that’s not at all how it works.I get that you’re unhappy you’re wrong but pretending stats are however you feel is just silly.
