I’m not talking about the “typical” junk food (like KFC or McDonalds), instead it’s more on certain aspects of Japanese cuisine being carb heavy or features fried items such as: ramen, agepan, karage, tempura, gyudon, tonkatsu, yakitori, etc. I mean, can ramen or gyudon bowls still be deemed “fast food” even though they appear ‘healthier’ than American fast food.

Aside from that, you seem to have missed the whole premise of what I was really pointing out, above-- that complex carbs in the forms I mentioned are about as unhealthy a way of taking in simple & complex sugars as one could possible want, i.e. almost all fibre, vitamins and minerals have been stripped away, leaving a form that contributes to diabetes, long-term.
THAT was the main point(s) I was making. I’ve certainly nothing against resistant starches and grains that retain as much of their whole selves as possible.
